Ladies of the Glade
The Project and Process

The purpose of this project was to create a series of fiber prints of female figures superimposed in the Louisiana woodlands and glade of my father’s home. I wanted to create a dreamy, surreal landscape that included the ghostly female figures representing women of my present and past. Since this particular region will be changing dramatically due to gas and oil exploration, I wished to capture the beauty of mother earth prior to its destruction by man.

To produce these images, I sandwiched a portrait negative with a landscape negatives. Since I only produced 3-5 of each sandwiched print, they are available as a limited edition.

I loved the results of this project. I did a lot of experimentation and enjoyed the abstract results. This project is one of a series of projects I am producing as part of my MFA studies at UTD with the final goal to create a portfolio of my work that represents events in my past that have made me the woman that I am today.
